Is Weight Loss Surgery Right For You?

If diet and exercise haven’t been enough to achieve a healthy body weight, you might be a good candidate for weight loss surgery. The Florida Hospital Tampa Surgical Weight Loss Institute offers a comprehensive, patient-centered approach using state-of-the-art, minimally invasive and non-surgical procedures, including:

  • Gastric Sleeve (sleeve gastrectomy): The stomach is reduced to 25% of its original size, resulting in a sleeve, or tube-like structure.
  • Gastric Bypass: The stomach is divided into a small upper pouch and a much larger lower "remnant" pouch, with the small intestine rearranged to connect both.
  • vBloc® Therapy: This minimally invasive procedure uses a pacemaker-like device to control hunger sensations.
  • LAP-BAND® (gastric band): An inflatable silicone device is placed around the top portion of the stomach to slow consumption of food.
  • ORBERA™: In this non-surgical procedure, an intragastric balloon is inserted using an endoscope via the mouth into the stomach to reduce the amount of food the stomach can hold.
